At Younger Chiropractic we treat and have treated many Triathletes over the years. I came across Alun Jones at the clinic who is attempting the Arch to Arc Challenge on the 18th August. The challenge involves taking part in a three man team competing in a triathlon from London’s Marble Arch to Paris’ Arc de Triomphe – Arch to Arc 2013.
So what does it entail…..The Run – On Sunday the 18th August they will set off from Marble Arch to run 87 miles in one hour relay legs to Dover. The Swim – they will swim to Calais (without wetsuit…brrrrr…!), again in one hour stints. The Bike – All three of us will then jump on their bikes and race 180 miles to Paris before the grand tour sprint up the Champs-Elysees to the finish at the Arc de Triomphe.   They have decided to raise money for some very worth-while causes whilst putting themselves through the mill; being the Stroke Association and the Multiple Sclerosis Society as both have affected either Alun’s family or friends.
His admiration for their grit and determination to adapt and enjoy life is limitless, which has put all his training (and whining at 5am!) into perspective, and he has decided to try and do something to give something back.
So if you are at all able to help and wish to do so, here is the link to the team page below which gives a bit more on the challenge, provides the individual charity links. If any of the charities are closer to your heart please feel free to donate.
