Imaan Salam qualified as a Doctor of Chiropractic from the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic where she completed the 4 years masters degree with a distinction and received the award for academic excellence. Following graduation, Imaan worked in the hustle and bustle of Manchester where she gained a lot of experience with a diverse range clientele with sports, degenerative and chronic pain conditions to pregnancy and work-related aches and pains.
From a young age, Imaan always knew her calling was to help people create health and realise their potential for it.
She was always interested in improving health and function, especially from a preventive standpoint and knew there had to be something deeper that would address and target the cause of musculoskeletal symptoms rather than masking them with medication. Suffering from low back pain since high school, she had her first encounter with a chiropractor. After experiencing the huge benefits and understanding the relationship between the spine, nervous system and her symptoms, she knew this was the career path she wanted to pursue for herself and spread to others.
Imaan believes that everyone and anyone from babies to the elderly can benefit from Chiropractic care and attaining this wealth of knowledge from a young age is extremely important in order to achieve optimum musculoskeletal function and health. Following the birth of her niece, she developed a very keen interest in pregnancy and paediatric care. However, is passionate about all areas of Chiropractic and the range of conditions that can be treated.
She believes it is important to work with patients not just on them and effective communication plays a large role in her treatments. Her love for conversing with her patients and allowing them to understand the underlying causes of their condition aids immensely in recovery and prevention as it allows patients to take control of their pain as opposed to letting it control them.
Imaan uses a multidisciplinary approach to care, using the traditional chiropractic adjustments, dry needling, aspects of applied kinesiology, ergonomics, posturology, therapeutic and sports massage, the prescription of specific rehabilitation exercises to aid recovery and dietary advice when needed.
In her spare time, she enjoys keeping fit at the gym, bike riding, singing, travelling, cooking and spending time with family and friends.
